Although I post images on my website of all the car shows we go to, sometimes I send extended coverage to HOT ROD HOT LINE. To visit their website, click on their logo above or to go directly to our images, go to

Our 2018 "ROAD TRIP" was pretty busy. We followed the Hot Rod Power Tour four days, spent two days at the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion and finished the week at the Street Machine Nationals in Du Quoin, Illinois. Even our "travel day" (Wednesday), we tagged along with the Hot Rod Reunion Road Tour from the Rat Trap Racing Shop in Spring Hill, TN to the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Minor League Baseball) Stadium (100 miles) with a lunch stop at

Tennessee Speed Sport shop in Goodlettsville, TN. Below are images from the tour. Top, right is a picture I took of the Rat Trap at Orange County Raceway in California in the late '60s. Looks like a pocket, instamatic camera image.

Lead vehicle on the Hot Rod Reunion Road Tour belonged to a popular local radio station and they were as happy to be there as we were.

Front Bumper from BUBBA WALLACE #43 NASCAR All-Star Open Race in Bristol

Bubba Wallace was spun out at the recent NASCAR All-Star race and he was noticeably upset. He even hand-delivered his damaged front bumper (left) to the pit area of the racer that "bumped him". The racer turned around and listed the damaged bumper on Ebay. With just a few days to go, the auction has received 69 bids and current high  bid  is  $15,400! That's  right;  over fifteen thousand

dollars. Now further reports state that NASCAR is behind the auction with Wallace's full approval and the total amount will go to Motor Racing Outreach (MRO). The MRO Foundation offers spiritual support to NASCAR racers and their families and cares for their children at the races.

The NHRA had just restarted their 2020 racing season with back-to-back events in Indianapolis and a revised schedule to complete the year and just one week in, two events have been canceled. Races in Denver and Brainerd (MN) have been scratched and another Indy race scheduled. We'll see what the rest of the year holds. And  also  due  to  the  Pandemic,  the  NHRA  Hot  Rod

Reunion in Bowling Green (KY) has also been canceled. Originally scheduled for mid-June and then rescheduled to August (20-22), the NHRA decided to cancel it completely for 2020. What's next?

Since you're visiting my website, there's a good possibility that you've built plastic model kits when you were younger. I used too and have actually gotten back into the hobby at least four times since then (50+ years). As a matter of fact I still have "projects" somewhere in the garage. I told myself that when I retire (2017), that would be my "hobby"; nothing yet but the drive is still there.

Above are a few of my "projects" that are currently on hold. I love nostalgic drag racing and caricature images so with the kits above, a little paint and detail and aftermarket decals, my "vision(s)" could be completed. Bad news is the discontinuance of SCALE AUTO MAGAZINE which has been around since 1979. For years I've had a subscription to the magazine which offered building tips and covered contests from all over the country. I personally would attend yearly plastic model contests here in the Houston area, early in Stafford and late in Spring (TX). The Stafford show was all plastic (auto, aviation, boats, sci-fi, etc,) while the show in Spring was automotive only. Anyway the magazine's final issue will be October 2020. Sorry to see it go.

After putting their 2020 schedule on hold during the Texas event back in March, the Goodguys cranked back up again recently only to postpone five of their upcoming events due to Covid-19 issues. The postponed events were scheduled in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, California, Tennessee  and Colorado. They still plan on holding their Lone Star Nationals gathering here in Texas later this year.

I really don't mind getting older, but my body is taking it badly!

IS                 HERE YET?

The Washington Redskins finally agreed to a new team name and its perfect. They settled on the Washington Football Team. My beef is now calling Redskins the "R" word. Is it 2021 yet?

A Bed and Breakfast in Michigan took down a Norwegian flag that was displayed at the inn due to complaints that it "resembled" a Confederate flag. Again, it is 2021 yet?

The Ford Motor Company was asked to quit production of "Police Cars" as they "perpetuate racism in society". They are "accessories to police brutality and oppression" and Ford is "actively sustaining racism and oppression in America". One more time.....IS IT 2021 YET!
