Although I post images on my website of all the car shows we go to, sometimes I send extended coverage to HOT ROD HOT LINE. To visit their website, click on their logo above or to go directly to our images, go to hotrodhotline.com/leal-brothers.
I had promised coverage of the NOVEMBER-FEST from Alvin, Texas but it had a pretty large turnout so I needed a little more time to sort and edit the images. The event below was on the same day 18 miles west in Missouri City and it was being put on by SHOWPLACE CLASSICS; home of the Bayou City Cup Series (BCCS). On my last update, I covered the final event of the BCCS but two more gatherings were scheduled,
this being the first. The final show of the year will be in two weeks (Thanksgiving weekend) up in New Caney 32 miles NNE of downtown Houston.
I mentioned above that Showplace Classics had one more "gathering" in New Caney (TX) Thanksgiving Saturday but they've added what appears to be a "make-up" show in Willis just north of Houston on the first weekend in December. Again, hope to make them both!
The sign on the left says it all; the final show of the 2020 Bayou City Cup Series was held at the Garage Bar and Grill in Alvin, Texas on November 8 and the pictured '55 Chevy was crowned BAYOU CITY CUP SERIES VI GRAND CHAMPION. Above are a couple of images we took at the show.
Got a new player in town; actually only new to me. The CAR CULTURE (HOUSTON) holds several events during the year in and around the Houston area and this was my first. Surprisingly, it was held at the Pearland Towne Center just 1.3 miles from my driveway. (I know what you're thinking; close enough to walk right; its okay, I'll pass!)
2019 HOUSTON AUTORAMA
Since the Houston Autorama is always held on the four-day Thanksgiving weekend and the event was canceled this year, below I've posted images from the 2019 Houston Autorama. I know its not the same thing but in 2020, that's all we got!
I received an E-mail from Mecum Auctions announcing the upcoming auction in Houston so I went into their website to check out some of the vehicles on the auction block. As it turns out, the Houston auction isn't until December but this coming weekend they're in Kansas City so I checked those vehicles out. I came across this nice looking 1963 Dodge Dart Gasser/Street Machine that's for sale.
A few things I didn't mention concerning the Dodge Dart above but obvious if you check the images out; it's powered by a supercharged 440, it has a straight front axle and my favorite, it has an altered wheelbase. Anyway the vehicle, altered wheelbase and all, SOLD this past weekend for a bid of $33,000.
If you follow NFL Football, you know that the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys both play games on Thanksgiving Day and
this year, the Lions play the Houston Texans. So both Texas teams will be playing: hence the above "Texas Thanksgiving" but with their current records, I won't go out on a limb and say "Happy Thanksgiving". On top of that and mentioned above, the Houston Autorama ("Thanksgiving Tradition") has been canceled due to the Pandemic and large family gatherings are being advised against so a tongue in cheek "Enjoy Your Thanksgiving"!
